“To understand how unwise it is to have the Federal Reserve, one must first understand the magnitude of the privileges they have. They have been given the power to create money, by the trillions, and to give it to their friends, under any terms they wish, with little or no meaningful oversight or accountability. Thus the loudest arguments against greater transparency are likely to come from those friends, and understandably so.â€

Here is what I sent to
Here is what I sent to Shelby, feel free to use it as an outline:
Dear Senator Shelby:
I urge you to read, cosponsor, and support S.604. This bill, which takes only a few minutes to read, will bring increased transparency and congressional oversight to the Federal Reserve.
At a time when there has been extensive debate and political grandstanding about the bailout, stimulus, and budget bills passed by congress, there has been little discussion about the trillions and trillions of dollars being lent out by the Federal Reserve. This money is essentially backed by the American taxpayer, and yet the current rules on auditing the Federal Reserve are insufficient in telling us where that money is going.
Whether you agree with trying to 'save' the economy with taxpayer money or not, you must agree that there should be transparency and accountability with regards to where that money is being spent. A lack of support for this bill would represent a desire to continue Washington's culture of secrecy and continue the status quo of behind-closed-doors dealmaking.
I look forward to seeing your name on the list of cosponsors for S.604. And if you choose not to support this bill, I would enjoy reading your explanation as to why you support government secrecy and out-of-control, unrestrained lending by the Federal Reserve.
Kindest Regards,
Well said, and thanks for

Historically economic
Historically economic sanctions have brought change, but in todays world they seem to be inneffective internationally due to differing government interests around the world. This however would have no bearing on a domestic version of economic santions.
The old addage that money is the "Mother's Milk" of politics is true today, but with a twist. "Fiat Money" pullled out of thin air under the present system feeds the politicians and provides them with a means of power over others, and so the ability of controlling the lives of people.
What if enough people did decide to join together and institute a domestic economic sanctions program, one that was well orginized, and with absolute sufficient numbers to be effective? What if people who had money comming back were incouraged to file, but those who owed didn't?
What if the number was 500.000m or maybe 700.000, now with millions of Americans taking part in tax day protests (Tea Parties) accross the nation? Would you say that sufficient numbers are there, ready and willing to publicly stand up? I am not advocating this, just wondering if the "Tea Partiers" have thought of it and maybe move forward. I have found this posted on the net and wondered if it is the next phase, lord I hope not.
Didnt the bailout fiasco
Didnt the bailout fiasco learn you all anything?? The calls and response to Congress were overwhelming. But they did their masters' bidding anyway. And we voted them all right back in. Why should they do anything but dismiss us with contempt?
Speak with your taxes and dont pay them. Anything else will get you ZIP. MONEY TALKS and LACK of $$$ screams even louder.
It now takes that level of intervention or nothing will get done.
Please explain, specifically
Please explain, specifically and in detail, what you mean when you say "Speak with your taxes and dont pay them". Chapter and verse, steps 1- whatever... please
You may be the leader folks have been waiting for, or you may be just another blowhard. Please be the leader. But must know what your plan is and whether it's feasible.
Waiting, waiting, waiting for the plan.
Right-on Shelly... you're
Right-on Shelly... you're right-on. As I tweeted earlier today, we can't change N0Bama's poisoned mind, but we CAN change SOME of our senators and congressman's minds. Many of them have elections at stake soon... let's not forget! Again, "Good Job"... you have my respect!
