If you like Organic / GMO-Free foods... TOO BAD!

Thanks to Aaron for sending me this rather horrifying link:

Racing Toward a Roundup-Ready Food Future

UPDATE: Guide to finding non-GMO foods (thanks Eric)

Here's an excerpt:

We might, as American eaters, still be having a healthy debate about whether we want to eat genetically-engineered corn, soybeans, and other foods. But the USDA data shows that our farmland is much farther along in making up its mind.

The REALLY frightening thing:

The spread of GMO foods in America

So, friends, if this issue is important to you, get vocal about it! As consumers, we have more power than we know - we just have to use it & let our friends and families know what's going on.

1. Vote with your forks: Support food producers who produce & label their foods "GMO Free" like Amy's:

GMO-Free Food Label

2. Talk to your friends about GMOs - learn more here

3. Take the "Replace Roundup" challenge to help divert revenue from Monsanto - one of the key players in the GMO marketplace - we've already diverted over $100,000!

Leave a comment here to let us know how YOU'RE fighting GMO's and making food choices that support local communities and GMO-free foods.

Here's another way to take a huge bite out of those wankers. Grow your own vegies and grains. Its much healthier and also gives you exercise and gets you outdoors more.

Thanks for the post and the recognition, Shelly. I didn't get this fast enough on my own blog. Not as quick on the draw as you are. :)

All the better to depopulate

All the better to depopulate the world, once these GMO catalysts begin interacting with the hundreds of toxins, preservatives, chemicals, pesticides and other unknown variables in the food chain. Throw in some outside vaccinations/live virus- and bingo! 2 billion down, 5 billion to go...

I've pulled a lot of the food

I've pulled a lot of the food related issues and resources I've found into one place. I'm trying to get a monthly organic potluck going as a means of bringing my network together in a fun, educational environment. To make this work, I needed to know the facts, know what to shop for and where to shop for it, dig up good recipes and build up those cooking skills. Its a work in process but I think I have managed to capture a lot so far.

Daggone it - I wanted to send this link to others, but your post ruined it. How about saying the same thing, being just as emphatic, but with milder language and more respect. "jesus h bucking christ" is definitly not appropriate, even amongst agnostics and athiests!!!

90% of the sugar beats come

90% of the sugar beats come from Mon's GM?? Shhesh. How can we tell which brands are GM?

As consumers its time that we

As consumers its time that we took back the food market from big conglomerates who have no interest in either the welfare of the crops/animals/environment that are all now commodities to them or to us. Not only do we need to speak with our shopping carts (which we can do in the millions) but also in our voices. Remember to shop locally, educate yourself about what you are eating, if your local grocery store supports farmers, support them too. The only way that this tide can be turned around is if we wrench it forcibly from the hands of big AG and put it back where it belongs. In the hands of a farmer.
