Dr. Mary Ruwart has a plan that would reduce healthcare costs by 80% overnight... without costing taxpayers $2 trillion. So why isn't anyone talking about this?

This doesn't pass the sniff test. Cut 80% of our health care costs by cutting regulations on Big Pharma? Hmmmm.
Let's imagine that we could reduce regulation to zero. Merck and GSK wouldn't have to do any testing on any new drug, but they'd still have to operate their companies profitably, search for new compounds that have at least an internally derived sense of efficacy and low probability of killer side-effects (unless no regulations = no product liability lawsuits, either) and then get those drugs into the hands of physicians. So a SWAG might be 50% lower costs. But that's a 50% reduction on only one part of health care. You still need to pay doctors, do tests, run hospitals, feed patients, etc. etc. etc.

BTW, got in a major argument over govt healthcare at a 40th b-day last week - dinner party. The liberals are just so clueless about economics, and it just stuns me to hear people who have faith in the govt running anything. They have ZERO evidence to prove govt efficiency and success!
My wife was telling me to stop and calm down, but my blood was boiling b/c I feel so passionate about this stuff, and I was raising my voice and talking over the idiot. As far as I was concerned, I had a right to drown out his god awful ideas.
