The internet is under attack by our very own US Government, working on behalf of corporate interests in the entertainment and content industries. What does this mean for you?
1. You can be banned from the internet, fined and even jailed if a copyright holder ACCUSES you of wrongdoing three times. Whether you violated their copyright or not.
2. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will be forced to invest heavily in intrusive monitoring infrastructure. Guess who'll end up covering those costs?
3. Once intrusive monitoring infrastructure (such as deep packet inspection) is in place, say goodbye to your privacy! To avoid liability, ISPs will need to monitor every packet of data that is transmitted or stored on their network to make sure it doesn't contain copyrighted materials. This means they'll see your emails, your facebook messages, which sites you visit on the internet, and what you do on those sites.
4. The government rewards their pet corporations for being lazy and refusing to adapt and innovate.
I'm not condoning internet piracy. I think copyright holders have a right to use their intellectual property as they see fit. The issue here is that the content industry is using our government (and our government is merrily letting them) to push global copyright regulations that will have horribly destructive consequences - to internet users, internet service providers, and the businesses that rely on them.

the government cant pull its
the government cant pull its pants up let alone hold them up .. there isnt a belt big enough nor enough people to pull them up .. so the govt is always running around like it has its pants fallen and hiding and doing things in secret .. -- it's too damn big and fat and too busy feeding its big fat gut to ever lose the weight it needs and is always buying bigger and bigger clothes and building larger warehouses for new, larger clothing and always hiring more seamstresses, tailors and larger mirrors to fit new clothes for itself as it continues to gorge on the american tax payer as well as build bigger warehouses on foreign lands ..
do you honestly think it has any organisational capabilities ? all the US federal government knows how to do is eat and feed its big fat belly continously, expeditiously and exponentially ... do you think it has time to actually do anything worthwhile or noticeable without deceipt or dept increase ? Heck No resounds around the world and into the universe as the massive black hole that is the US Fed Govt swallows up everything in its' path
and increases inefficiencies through larger wastes which no one can keep up with ..
if you had to reduce the government to one word it would begin with L and end with E and in the middle would be I because that is all that the Fed govt is about is itself and filling its big fat gut past the point of gluttony -- there is a famous English movie, the
Monthy Pythone classic in which there is a huge fat man, who sits down to dinner and utterly stuffs himself .. then yaks it all up ... then stuffs himself .. the waiter continues to bring more and more and more .. and he eats and throws up and the cycle continues and the man is probably 4 times as wide or more of a normal person .. and it is utterly disgusting to watch -- the humor is surpassed by disgust not too far into the skit ... this likens very well to what is going on in the American federal government system ...

Warning, upon re-watching this , there is a bit of crudity which I didn't recall, but if u dont want to hear the song about the mail appendage, skip the first 45seconds or so to get to the entrance of "Mr. Creosote."

I'd really like to see the government through everyone's ass in jail for copyrighted material. If this gets passed you could go to jail for watching a Blockbuster movie at a friend'd houes. This is also why big government sucks.
We need to copyright are
We need to copyright are commercial capitalize name "JOHN DOE" and sue the government, bankers, Justice system for copyright infringement. Peace and freedom to all. Lucky me I am in Canada and I don't need to register copyright. Google "Freedom from bankers, Your Human Rights" (With quote) to learn more. That is really possible!
Existing protection for
Existing protection for intellectual property - WIPO and the DMCA and for when people violate existing, implemented copyright protections. Now, they want ISPs to be intellectual property cops, which is a huge infrastructural and technological woe. Where the agency is smaller, and fits in the 'safe harbor' clause, they will come after you directly, and ban you from the internet for 3 strikes on intellectual property protection violations, whether proven or not. This is government oversight on all internet traffic, and I find the technology very costly and circumvent to the real task at hand.
There are existing technologies, such as eCX and eCP from IBM's Tivoli and from the University of Hong Kong. These are schemes for protecting intellectual property distributed to client machines, not what this crazy government has in mind. Many are currently also satisfied with the security at YouTube and similar sites.
I also have needs for intellectual property protection, in the design
of a file system for an internet-based org-type which provides dynamic protection for files distributed to client machines, and at various security levels (SiteFS for the CNA). The only difference with what this design includes over the above mentioned is a dynamic aspect that enhances its security.
In this case, platform (O/S) vendors can participate in 'footprint protocol', where a trusted viewer security authority (file system vendor) can download a program dynamically at the time that a client wishes to decrypt a protected file (for viewing). The dynamic program can inspect the client's footprint, for the file system itself, and the platform vendor can join the protocol 'ring'. I believe this would be far superior to the government alternatives, and provides intellectual property protection for everyone.
GOOD POINT KEEP UP THE GOOD
GOOD POINT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
On a recent visit to China,
On a recent visit to China, Obama told students that 'a free and unfettered Internet is a source of strength, not weakness'. Is there no end to the lies coming out of this man?
The entertainments industry is driving the move to control the internet, and who mostly controls the entertainments industry? The Jews. And they are, of course, using what they call 'America's first Jewish President', Obama, to ram through these controls so that they can wipe any blogger who tells the truth about them off the internet.
Land of the free?
You look great with that
You look great with that white background.. That could be a great trademark for your presentations. It is perfectly different from everybody else.
Honestly, who has never
Honestly, who has never downloaded something that might have a little bit of copyrights attached to it...even a photo or a soundclip for your cellphone? The internet is full of copyrighted material. I can get on a website and view celebrity photos that are copyrighted and not allowed to be downloaded, but if I like what I see...I might grab a quick copy.
If everyone is doing this, then we're all going to be banned from the internet, and there will be no further need for owning a computer. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs will be on welfare, Tiger Direct and Best Buy will go bankrupt, and AT&T and Comcast will be history.
Intel will survive, we all need chips to power our alarm clocks!
However, mankind will collapse and we'll all be raising chickens and growing veggies for survival. Without computers and the Internet, there won't be many jobs left.

The government rewards their pet corporations for being lazy and refusing to adapt and innovate
Fighting piracy is the oft stated reason for this nonsense but that is a red herring. As demonstrated in South Korea the real aim of this exercise is to stop ISPs hosting any content (copyright or not) on pain of financial ruin thereby ensuring that all new artists will be funneled into the indentured servitude model of the old content business. The upswing of this is that under the new rules artists will not need to be paid and big-content will regain its monopoly control. Artists that try and step outside this model will have their work digitally reviewed against a back catalog of millions of tracks or hours of video with near 150 year copyright for any similarities (substantial part will change to small part) and will be forced back into the model.
Rather than being lazy and refusing to adapt and innovate this play by big content is an innovative way to regain and preserve monopoly control.
Heh, great point.
