Breyers, Haagen-Dazs and Baskin-Robbins all use milk from cows injected with Bovine Growth Hormone (called rBGH or rBST). Which means I am no longer eating ice cream from Breyers, Haagen-Dazs or Baskin-Robbins.

FDA nearing decision on genetically engineered salmon
Yikes.
From the Washington Post:
It may not be the 500-pound "Frankenfish" some researchers were talking about 10 years ago, but a Massachusetts company says it is on the verge of receiving federal approval to market a quick-growing Atlantic salmon that's been genetically modified with help from a Pacific Chinook salmon.
Feds admit storing checkpoint body scan images
From CNET:
For the last few years, federal agencies have defended body scanning by insisting that all images will be discarded as soon as they're viewed. The Transportation Security Administration claimed last summer, for instance, that "scanned images cannot be stored or recorded."
$8.7 billion unaccounted for in Iraq; lax oversight blamed
Um.

Too many laws, too many prisoners
Great article in the Economist about our ridiculously over-zealous "justice" system:
Never in the civilised world have so many been locked up for so little
Justice is harsher in America than in any other rich country. Between 2.3m and 2.4m Americans are behind bars, roughly one in every 100 adults. If those on parole or probation are included, one adult in 31 is under “correctional” supervision. As a proportion of its total population, America incarcerates five times more people than Britain, nine times more than Germany and 12 times more than Japan. Overcrowding is the norm. Federal prisons house 60% more inmates than they were designed for. State lock-ups are only slightly less stuffed.

Net Neutrality proponents are aways throwing around hypotheticals about how Evil ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are hell-bent on censoring the internet. Their solution --for the good of the people, of course-- is government regulation of the internet.
Seems to me the only *real* threat to our internet freedom IS OUR GOVERNMENT!
